Steve Morris says Habitat for Humanity is EXIT Realty’s charity of choice

EXIT Realty Corp. International and Habitat for Humanity

"The home is the bottom line of life, the anvil upon which attitudes and convictions are hammered out…the single most influential force in our earthly existence. No price tag can adequately reflect its value. No gauge can measure its ultimate influence…" Chuck Swindoll

Cindy SzineghSteve Morris, Founder & CEO, EXIT Realty Corp. InternationalOver the last three years, EXIT Realty Corp. International has donated a total of $875,000 in both the US and Canada, provided hundreds of man-hours and masses of volunteers to Habitat for Humanity (HFH) efforts. Now, more than ever, EXIT Realty has joined in the fight for safer, sounder housing in the on-going battle against poverty and homelessness across North America.
During his address to over 2,000 EXIT associates at the 8th International Convention, Founder and CEO, Steve Morris explained what he saw as a natural charity of choice for his growing Corporation.
“I wanted to select a charity that was close to real estate, that effected people, where you could see it helping people,” he said. “I wanted to change the spirit of real estate, and try to put the feeling-factor back into this industry because we lost it somewhere along the way.”
Consecutive EXIT builds have been spearheaded with such fervor throughout the United States that it has become common-place to hear about multiple builds overlapping each other, such as with EXIT’s final builds of 2006, and into 2007.
The last HFH update left off at EXIT’s fourth corporately sponsored build, which took place in Reading, MA in affiliation with the Greater Lowell Habitat Affiliate. This operation kicked off on September 22, 2006, and brought a family of four home. This led to build number five, which was the first of EXIT’s Operation Home Delivery builds in relief of hurricane victims of the Gulf States. This special first kicked off on November 11, 2006 and was presented to a single mother with two children in Covington, LA. This particular build benefited from the NAR Annual conference, which was also being hosted in Louisiana that year and brought EXIT representation from 16 states and provinces. Les and Linda Kint, Regional Owners of EXIT Realty South East Texas even made the 10-hour drive with their two kids in their mobile home, and provided a full BBQ lunch for volunteers.
Build six was another EXIT first, where two Operation Home Delivery houses were built side-by-side. Also fittingly held in Irvington, AL, this build kicked off on February 9, 2007 and represented EXIT’s first build of the New Year.
“We have completed three homes and currently have four under construction,” said Cindy Szinegh, EXIT Realty’s VP of Corporate Services. “There will three more build announcements in the coming months, bringing our total number of builds to 10 homes! Eventually we will have EXIT Habitat homes build in every region and then…we’ll do it all again.”
Watch for information on dedications and new builds in the EXIT Resource Center (ERC) where you can also sign up to volunteer. EXIT Realty has also introduced a new Habitat page to the Corporate website where you can view past build footage, and other Habitat for Humanity links. Take a look today at
