Beth Oertel, Affiliate Broker with EXIT Real Estate Solutions in Hendersonville, TN with the help of Broker/Owner, Ed Andrews, and the rest of the team, organized a golf tournament for K9s for Warriors. K9s for Warriors is the largest provider of service dogs to military veterans in the United States. They are best known for rescuing and training shelter dogs as service animals to work with veterans disabled with military related disorders at no cost to the veteran. By working with shelter dogs, they have the power to save two lives, both the veteran’s and the dog’s.
Beth chose this organization because they have a number of veterans and active-duty members in their office and have seen the impact a service animal makes in the everyday life of a combat veteran. The suicide rate among combat veterans is 124 per day while the suicide rate among veterans who receive a service animal is almost nonexistent.
EXIT Real Estate Solutions sponsored the golf tournament at a local golf course with the support of locally, veteran-owned, businesses. They were able to raise money by sponsorships and golf team purchases which they promoted on social media as well as within the office and business-to-business.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Beth and her team hoped to raise $12,500 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, for a total donation of $25,000 to K9s for Warriors.
“This beautiful story started with a conversation between Ed and Beth, where he asked her to share her dreams. Beth’s dream was to raise enough money to provide a service dog, the initial cost of which is $25,000. With the Spirit of EXIT they were able to do it as a company! K9s for Warriors has an extraordinarily high success rate helping veterans with PTSD. I was beyond honored to witness this labor of love,” says Tami Bonnell, CEO of EXIT Realty Corp. International.
