Richard ‘Taco’ Sanchez, Associate Broker of EXIT Prestige Luxury Realty of Biloxi, MS, hosted his annual Veterans for Veterans Golf Tournament on November 7, 2020 to raise money for Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation is a charitable organization that helps provide the children of fallen Special Operations personnel with a college education. They not only help to provide tuition but also give students a leg up by providing training and mentoring programs to help them prepare for college as well as offering specific programs for those with special needs.

“The weather was great!” said Taco, “We had 73 golfers play.  EXIT Prestige Luxury Realty <the event sponsor> and Regional Owners, Troy and Kathy Dooley, showed in force playing and manning our EXIT tent.  We had two Airmen from Hurlburt Field, Florida, tend the flag on the 18th hole, which is our Honor hole for this event.  News coverage by WXXV 25 in Gulfport covered the event. <There was> not a dry eye in the house when playing this hole.”

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. Taco reached out to the Spirit of EXIT for the third time, hoping to raise $5,000 which EXIT’s head office was happy to match, but he far exceeded his goal and raised $16,037.50 for a total donation of $21,037.50 to Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

“I flew the mission in 1980 called Eagle Claw (Desert One).  We lost 8 warriors that night in an aircraft accident that left 16 children behind. Those of us on the mission decided that we would pay for the education of those children. We did and SOWF was created and we still pay for the education of children of Special Operation Forces who lost their life. 480+ children have graduated and over 850+ children are still in the program,” said Taco.

“Thank you for your wonderful effort to support our Foundation by organizing the Veterans for Veterans Golf Tournament. We simply could not fulfill our mission without your generous support,” said Alex Gordon, Event Coordinator for Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
