The Gilbert-Chenot Team Raised Money, Swung Hammers and Helped Change a Life Through the Spirit of EXIT

The Gilbert-Chenot Team of dedicated agents at EXIT Real Estate Professionals Network in Knoxville, Tennessee teamed up with the NewsTalk 98.7 Build benefiting Knoxville Habitat for Humanity, raising money and swinging hammers to make the dream of home ownership come true for a Habitat partner.

“You and your great team at EXIT Realty are simply the bomb!  Thank you for your great leadership when your team built the interior walls and installed the roof shingles on what will soon be Ireen Maburuki’s home.  It was hard work on a very hot day and you all did an amazing job in record time,” said Angie Hatcher Sledge, Chief Development Officer at Knoxville Habitat for Humanity.

A portion of every transaction fee collected by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund.  Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities, including Habitat for Humanity, and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds.  The Gilbert-Chenot team raised $1,825 which EXIT’s Head Office matched for a total donation to Knoxville Habitat for Humanity of $3,650.

“While all of our partner families are special and have significant stories to share, Ireen’s story is especially compelling considering the extraordinary challenges she has faced in her young life,” Hatcher Sledge continued.  “She was born in a refugee camp and for nearly 20 years her family was relocated to 8 different countries before finally being approved to immigrate to the United States. Ireen, along with her parents, sisters and brother experienced hunger and homelessness.  At one point she attended school under a tree and her oldest brother was killed during the family’s efforts to find a permanent home. Today, Ireen is proud of her American citizenship and grateful for her job as a CNA in a local nursing home.  She is looking forward to getting married soon and having a family of her own who will enjoy a permanent and safe home, thanks in large part to the support she received from the Gilbert-Chenot Team at EXIT Realty.”
