Parise Cormier, Broker/Owner of EXIT Realty Associates in Dieppe, New Brunswick, started a fundraiser called EXIT Associates Give Back to raise money for the New Brunswick Food Depot Alimentaire. This organization supports food banks, community kitchens and school programs in their area.
When asked why she chose this charity, Parise responded, “There are so many families in our area who are struggling to put food on their tables, a record number of children who rely on school for two meals a day. Our homeless shelters are struggling to feed the needy. This food bank sees that food is distributed where it is needed and supplies all food banks in our province.”
During the holiday season, instead of having a party and exchanging gifts, the team at EXIT Realty Associates donated and raised funds through social media, and local and provincial newspapers. A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. Parise and her team had hoped to raise $10,000 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match but they doubled that goal and raised $20,000 for a total donation of $30,000 to New Brunswick Food Depot Alimentaire.
“Thank you for your donation. Because we are able to purchase food in large quantities for distribution to food banks in our network, we have more buying power as an organization. A donation like the one you have made of $30K is roughly equivalent to $60K worth of food for food banks,“ said Dale Hicks, President of the Board of New Brunswick Food Depot Alimentaire.
The local community learned of the brokerage’s efforts when the Maritime business publication, Huddle, ran this story.
