Carlisa Thompson and the Spirit of EXIT Contribute Funds for Hearing Loss

Carlisa Thompson, sales representative for EXIT Landmark Realty in White Plains, MD rallied a  team to raise money to support the Hearing Loss Association of America. The Hearing Loss Association (HLAA) of America is the leading organization to provide education and support for those faced with hearing loss.

“I chose this charity because it affects my family personally. My daughter LeighAnna has worn hearing aids since she was 3 months old. Until she needed them, I never knew that most insurance companies do not provide coverage for hearing aids,” says Carlisa, “We were lucky that my daughter’s hearing aids were covered. We want to raise money for technology and resources for people with hearing loss who aren’t so lucky.”

The team participated in the Walk 4 Hearing at the National Harbor under the name LeighAnna’s Hedgehogs, “because my daughter’s favorite things in the world are hedgehogs,” said Carlisa. They were able to raise funds through sponsors and donations via social media as well as in person at various restaurants throughout the community.

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Carlisa and her team hoped to raise $2,500 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, however they exceeded their goal and raised $2,538 for a total donation of $5,038 to the Hearing Loss Association of America.

“Funds raised at the Walk4Hearing benefit local and national programs that assist those with hearing loss such as providing scholarships for college, funding for hearing assistive technologies, assisting those unable to afford proper hearing health care, continuous advocacy efforts, and many other initiatives,” said Ann Rancourt, Walk4Hearing Manager at HLAA.
