With Christina Luis, Senior Vice President
When Christina Luis was asked for a story detailing her nearly three decades with EXIT, she laughed. “My 30-year anniversary with EXIT is on March 3, 2027. How do you summarize that?” she says. “The best stories aren’t even repeatable…IYKYK.”
She has experienced countless Broker Owner Training classes, conventions, conferences, Zoom calls, and last-minute meetings. Along the way, she’s celebrated milestones, navigated challenges, and built lifelong relationships with people across the EXIT community.
“I have met, laughed, cried and broke bread with some of the most amazing humans you could ever encounter,” she reflects. “You can’t help but grow into a better version of yourself when you’re surrounded by so many exceptional people.”
Rather than listing accolades, Christina chooses to remember a moment that perfectly captures what makes EXIT different.
It began with what looked like a logistical disaster.
In 2010, shortly after contracts had been signed for the annual convention, she received word that the hotel’s main lounge, the heart of the event’s informal networking, would be under major construction.
“It was obviously a problem,” she recalls. “Where would our people hang out, meet up, network?”
The solution wasn’t glamorous. The team transformed part of the hotel lobby into a makeshift gathering space.
“It wasn’t the vibe we were used to, but it was going to have to work.”
Instead, something unexpected happened. “It turned out to be amazing. There was no question about where everyone was going to be, we owned the lobby. It became the most connected event we’ve ever had.”
Sometimes the best moments aren’t carefully planned, they’re created simply because people choose to be together. But that wasn’t even the memory that stayed with her most.
Off to one side of the lobby sat an EXIT franchisee and his wife. From across the room, she sensed he wasn’t having a particularly good time.
“I went over and sat with them,” she says. “We just chatted. It was a light, simple conversation.”
She told him something she’d always believed that he was appreciated, his presence mattered, and that the community was better because he was there. “I didn’t say much, truly only what I felt. I really do adore this couple.”
What she didn’t realize was how much that conversation would mean. “They have since been to every convention and major event we’ve hosted because of the connections they’ve made and the value they carry.”
It’s a reminder that some of the most meaningful moments don’t happen on a stage, they happen in quiet conversations, away from the spotlight, when someone feels seen.
For Christina, those moments have become the defining thread running through her entire career.
“We’ve all had countless similar conversations,” she says. “Sometimes someone needed to chat, vent, cry, share a victory and everything in between.”
Over the years, she’s seen that same care expressed in countless ways: hugging someone a little tighter after they’ve lost a loved one, writing a handwritten note during a difficult season, sending flowers to celebrate a new baby, or simply making time to listen.
“The connections matter.”
That’s the legacy she believes EXIT has built over the past 30 years, not just a company or a brand, but a community where people genuinely show up for one another.
“Humanity is something we hold sacred,” Christina says. “To me, holding space for people is the utmost example of care.” Looking back, the conventions, meetings, and milestones are easy to recall but the memories that stay with us are of conversations, friendships, and the people. Because after 30 years, that’s the story worth telling.
