Every year, Have A Heart, the non-profit organization affiliated with the Northern Wasatch Association of REALTORS® (NWAOR) and the Northern Wasatch Chapter of Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR) in Utah hosts a 5K run to raise funds benefiting a member of the community struggling with illness. The recipients are related to members of the real estate community such as agents, lenders, or title professionals. Stephanie Dickson, a sales representative with EXIT Realty Advantage in Marriott-Slaterville, UT, has been involved with the race since 2014 when her husband, Juston, a lymphoma patient, was the recipient of the funds raised.
This year, the recipient was Baylee Semrow. “Baylee is a beautiful, bright and fun 6-year-old little girl. She loves princesses, playing dress up and anything girly,” said Stephanie. “Baylee was recently diagnosed with stage III Wilms tumor (kidney cancer). She spent nearly three straight weeks in the hospital due to complications when her tumor ruptured. She started chemotherapy and has had surgery to remove one of her kidneys. After surgery, she continued chemotherapy and then endured radiation to the abdomen where the tumor ruptured.”
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. Through donations from the community, EXIT Associates hoped to raise $5,000 which EXIT Realty Corp. International was proud to match, but they exceed their expectations raising $10,000 for a total donation to Have a Heart of $15,000 towards their $35,000 objective to help Baylee.
“Baylee has been told she is in remission which is so exciting!” said Stephanie. “I am so honored to give back and continue to see this race grow and grow! I have been shown through EXIT Realty to always focus on what I want, and I will get it. This is no different. Through this fund, EXIT Realty Corp. International matches what our incredible EXIT agents raise, and this makes a huge difference in lives every day, especially in Baylee’s!
