Jane Huelle and Brenda Huelle, sales representatives with EXIT Landmark Realty in White Plains, Maryland, led a team of real estate professionals who participated in the Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland (HFHMM) Women’s Build. HFHMM is an organization committed to creating decent and affordable homeownership opportunities in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
A requirement to participate is the raising of funds, so Jane and Brenda approached their friends, family, industry colleagues, and worked with local businesses to get support for their events and raffles. “We sold homemade jams and jellies at a community-organized gathering and we held a Paint & Sip and other events,” said Brenda. “The remaining donations came from a last-minute social media push with friends and our broker, Bernadette Cole, spreading the word.”
A portion of every transaction fee collected by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. Jane and Brenda hoped to raise $6,000, which EXIT Realty Corp. International was proud to match, but the last-minute social media flurry brought them to $6,365, for a total donation to Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland of $12,365.00.
“With these funds, HFHMM will be able to respond quickly to opportunities, allowing them to reach their five-year goal of completing 410 projects including neighborhood revitalization, new construction, rehabilitation, weatherization, and home repair,” said Brenda. “They are also partnering to create affordable housing, housing for seniors, and owner-occupied revitalization. These contributions will help empower women, transform lives, and build communities.”
