Benefit Concert Brings Community Together for Supportive Housing Initiative

On the evening of October 23, 2025, community members gathered at Alternatives Community Program Services in Peterborough for VanCamp and Melissa Payne- A Benefit Concert for Our Daughter’s Home. The event brought together music lovers, supporters, and advocates for accessible housing, filling the venue with a strong sense of shared purpose. With 77 pre-sold tickets and 8 walk-ins, the night exceeded expectations and demonstrated the community’s deep commitment to this important cause.

Volunteers from Our Daughter’s Home played a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere, assisting with venue setup and providing refreshments. The evening began with a brief introduction to how funds raised would support the construction of a unique, community-built home, one designed to offer safe, stable, and supportive housing for seven disabled young women and a full-time caregiver.

Jon Maxwell, Broker with EXIT Realty Liftlock, Brokerage addressed attendees to share his gratitude and to highlight the support of the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program.

The concert opened with an energizing set from VANCAMP, the 2024 Peterborough Folk Festival Emerging Artist. Their engaging performance set the tone for headliner Melissa Payne, whose blend of East Coast–inspired music and original songs had the room dancing, clapping, and singing along.

The benefit concert supports a first-of-its-kind initiative in the Peterborough & Kawartha Region: a semi-detached, supportive, female-only home built through a partnership between Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region and Our Daughter’s Home. The project responds to a critical and growing need: Ontario currently has over 28,000 individuals on the waitlist for supportive housing, with only 6% receiving placement. Locally, there are no supportive housing options specifically designed for women with developmental disabilities. This project aims to change that by creating a safe, dignified space where residents can live with independence, stability, and the comfort of community.

Through music, community engagement, and the dedication of local supporters, the benefit concert stands as a testament to what can be achieved when people unite around a shared vision. Together, we are helping build not just a house, but a home, community, and a future filled with dignity, safety, and belonging.

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Jon and his team raised $1,050, which EXIT Realty Corp. International was proud to match for a total donation of $2,100 to Our Daughter’s Home.
