A thank you to the 2015 EXIT Realty Convention flash mob participants from Steve Morris.
A theme of family and connectedness threaded throughout our 2015 Convention and was personified when upwards of 70 EXIT Realty Head Office Staff, Trainers and Associates from across the continent burst forth in a flash mob at the climax of the event.
The idea was conceived as far back as 2013 and was brought to life when EXIT MIND-SET Trainer, Erica Nasby, choreographed the routine to Pharrell Williams’ “Happy”. Her moves were put to video this past summer and copies were distributed to Head Office staff and a few of Erica’s coaching clients. My daughter, EXIT Realty’s Social Media Coordinator, Samantha Morris, and Erica helped word of mouth participation to spread to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Alberta, Ontario, California, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Montana, New York, Arizona and Utah. Weeks of rehearsals began and all of this happened without my knowledge!
Here at Head Office, I was kept busy while our mobbers rehearsed unbeknownst to me in the parking lot. I was told later that our corporate neighbours asked if they could join our aerobics club! Some people rehearsed alone including Annette Anthony who practiced in her living room stepping over her dogs. Samantha told me that as soon as people realized they had this opportunity they chose a team leader, banded together and worked hard to make it happen.
When they came together in Nashville, they only had two opportunities of an hour each to rehearse as a group. On the final day of Convention following the announcement that our 2016 event would be held in The Bahamas, Samantha shocked and surprised me by running up onto the stage and dancing. Suddenly she was accompanied by dozens of people on and around the stage all performing in synchronized rhythm. It was obvious that this exceptional flash mob was carefully rehearsed and perfectly executed. It was a joyful finishing touch to the week’s festivities and it brought the house down!
