EXIT Realty Producers of Gainesville, FL, Broker/Owner Debra Martin-Back, and her husband Terry Martin-Back, rallied volunteers in a fundraising initiative for Soldiers Freedom Outdoors. Soldiers Freedom Outdoors is an organization dedicated to serving active duty and retired veterans with eco (outdoor) therapy through their ranch known as Camp Freedom.
“My husband is a combat veteran from Operation Desert Storm. We are active in the veteran community and Soldiers Freedom Outdoors allows veterans to stay at the ranch for mental therapy, hunting, fishing, and recreation with their families all at no cost to the veteran. Their focus is to assist veterans with their PTSD and slow the rate of veteran suicide,” Debra says.
Terry and other volunteers rode their bicycles from Gainesville to Crescent Beach, FL an 85-mile trip, to bring attention to their cause. They created a Facebook funding page and received donations through that site as well as directly from local businesses and individuals. They were also able to promote the charity ride over the radio on the number 1 morning show in the area.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Terry and Debra hoped to raise $5,000 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, but exceeded their expectations and raised $5019 for a total donation of $10,019 to Soldiers Freedom Outdoors.
