Polaris Elementary is an arts integrated magnet school that supports the unique intellectual, social, emotional, and creative needs of gifted students in an atmosphere of respect for all. It also happens to be where Dushica Ostrander, Associate Broker at EXIT Realty DTC Cherry Creek, Pikes Peak in Englewood, CO sends her son to first grade, which made it an easy choice for her Spirit of EXIT initiative.
Last fall, the Polaris community hosted an auction fundraiser. Dushica collected donations of gift baskets, gift cards, nights at vacation homes, a day with the principal, dinner experiences for parents and more for the auction. Some items were up for bid while others were part of a raffle.
“The school needs $265,000 to bridge the gap between what is provided by Denver Public Schools and the funds necessary to educate the students. The money raised at the auction and through corporate sponsorship directly supports the students and funds paraprofessionals, the social worker, electives programs, teacher appreciation and community programs,” Dushica tells.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Dushica hoped to raise $1,000 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, but her efforts brought in an astounding $84,527 which resulted in a total donation of $85,527 to Polaris Elementary PTO.
