By Alex Cole, Franchisee of EXIT Landmark Realty in White Plains, MD
For the month of December 2022, agents of EXIT Landmark Realty and the local community came together to raise funds for Legacy Flight Academy. These funds promote early exposure to aviation related careers for underrepresented youth. This exposure is a significant factor in professional success in aerospace careers such as pilot, drone operator, flight attendant and maintenance technician. Built on a foundation of the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, Legacy Flight Academy™ (LFA) combines quality character development programs and aviation experiences that inspire you to achieve their goals in STEM careers while becoming strong citizens and contributors to society.
Legacy Flight Academy conducted a program called Eyes Above the Horizon in the local area in October, which allowed over 100 youth the opportunity to fly in an aircraft and learn about the historic Tuskegee Airman. This program was free to the high school aged children who participated. Students additionally learned about the college and career opportunities from professionals in the various aviation career fields, as well as professional development and character building. The local community was so engaged and excited they wanted to do another program to allow more children the opportunity.
As an LFA Board member, and current United Airlines Captain on the Boeing 737, I spearheaded the fundraising efforts to help ensure LFA would return to do more grassroots efforts in the local area. The agents of EXIT Landmark Realty are honored and proud to serve our local communities. This is what makes EXIT different, no other fundraiser had the backing of a company dedicated to giving back and we were thrilled to be able to partner with our corporate office to multiply the impact.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Alex hoped to raise $2,500, which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, however he raised $3,551, for a total donation of $6,051 to Legacy Flight Academy.
“On behalf of Legacy Flight Academy (LFA), l would like to thank you for supporting LFA through your employee match program. Alex Cole’s Giving Tuesday 2022 Facebook fundraiser raised $3,551.00 USD. His efforts and your generosity will be critical to assisting LFA in fulfilling its mission of upholding and sustaining the legacy of the heroic Tuskegee Airmen. We appreciate your support for LFA and our programs,” said Valyncia S.H. Thomas, Esq., Treasurer, LFA.
