The family that formed the Paul Ritondaro Shooting Star Foundation did so in memory of their 19-year-old son who tragically lost his battle with mental illness in May of 2021. They are dedicated to making a positive impact by supporting individuals and families who have experienced the devastating loss of a loved one to suicide. Their mission extends to educating and raising awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. On a personal note, the young man, Paul Ritondaro, was my nephew by choice. His parents have been lifelong friends. He called us “Aunt Steph and Uncle Eddie”. My youngest son and Paul were only 12 days apart in age and best friends.
In March, in an extraordinary display of community spirit and compassion, our inaugural charity event hosted by EXIT Homestead Realty Professionals benefiting the Paul Ritondaro Shooting Star Foundation brought the power of unity in the face of mental health challenges and profound grief caused by suicide. This remarkable event dedicated to transforming lives and nurturing hope not only marked the beginning of a mission and journey for the foundation, but also set a precedent for the impact collective action can have on those navigating through the devastating loss of a loved one.
Attendees gathered with a shared purpose: to uplift and aid those affected by mental health issues and loss to suicide. The cornhole tournament with its friendly competition and laughter was a true hit. The 50/50 raffle, long toss tournament, super raffle, and basket raffles were a success while a beef and beer dinner were enjoyed by all while a DJ kept the music going.
The event was not just a fundraiser, it was a community coming together for countless individuals and families. The funds raised are earmarked for scholarships for aspiring mental health professionals and for the support systems of those already impacted by these issues. The inaugural event was a testament to what can be achieved when hearts come together for a cause that matters. As the Paul Ritondaro Shooting Star Foundation moves forward, the impact of this evening will resonate, driving forward a mission of hope, healing, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow for all those touched by mental health challenges. EXIT Homestead Realty Professionals is grateful to the communities, volunteers, sponsors, and participants that pulled together to make this event truly one to remember.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Stephanie and her team hoped to raise $5,000, which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, however they greatly exceeded their goal and raised an astounding $18,750.65 for a total donation of $23,750.65 to Paul Ritondaro Shooting Star Foundation.
