The power of community was on full display as Elias Thomas III, franchisee of EXIT Key Real Estate in Shapleigh, Maine, spearheaded a heartwarming initiative to support the unhoused population in the Sanford-Springvale area. In partnership with the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club, Elias and his associates hosted “January Thaw (Come in from the Cold)”, a fundraising event that combined great food, generosity, and a shared mission to make a difference.
Held at a local restaurant, the event operated with a simple yet impactful model: attendees purchased tickets, with half of the proceeds covering their meals and the other half directly supporting the fundraising effort. In addition to monetary contributions, guests were encouraged to bring warm clothing donations, which were collected and delivered to a local homeless shelter—offering both immediate relief and a message of hope to those in need.
Through their collective efforts, Elias and his team successfully raised $7,752.00 to aid the unhoused population in their community. Their commitment was further amplified by EXIT Realty Corp. International, which, through the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program, generously matched an additional $2,000, bringing the total contribution to $9,752.00.
Barbara Sutcliffe, Treasurer of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club, expressed her gratitude for the initiative, stating:
“Sanford-Springvale Rotary is extremely grateful to be able to participate in The Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program.”
The Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program was designed to empower EXIT associates to give back to their communities, and events like January Thaw exemplify that mission. Elias Thomas III and his team at EXIT Key Real Estate not only raised significant funds but also inspired a movement of generosity, proving that a warm meal, a warm coat, and a warm heart can go a long way in changing lives.
Thank you to Elias, his associates, and all who contributed to making this event a success. Your dedication to serving others embodies the true Spirit of EXIT!
