The Fredericksburg Food Co-Op hosted a Harvest Celebration in October to raise money towards reducing the cost of groceries for families using SNAP/EBT. Januari Coates, Broker/Owner of EXIT Leading Edge Realty in Stafford, VA raised money at the event which offered a taste of local foods made right in the co-op kitchen, along with the chance to meet local farmers and producers.
“They support the community by addressing food insecurities. They offer food saving and ownership in their grocery store. They host local farmers and vendors within the community,” Januari said. Through social media campaigns and meeting with community leaders, businesses, and individuals the team was able to raise awareness for this event.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Januari and her team of professionals hoped to raise $2,000, which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, however they exceeded that goal and raised $2,500 for a total donation of $4,500 to Fredericksburg Food Co-Op.
