EXIT Realty Broker/Owners Share Their Recommended Reads: Entrepreneurship

Each of us tends to think that professional challenges happen to us alone, but they don’t.  For every situation we encounter, there is someone who has overcome something similar and has written a book about it.  That’s why reading is such an excellent habit to develop for entrepreneurs or anyone in the pursuit of success.  Through books, we can take the lessons learned from the successes and failures of others and apply them to our own business and our life.

We recently asked EXIT Realty Broker/Owners to suggest their top picks for business books and here, we focus on their recommendations on the topic of entrepreneurship.

  1. The E-Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber:  The Entrepreneur (E) Myth was a bestseller from 1985 that was revised to apply to the changing business landscape in the past decade.  The premise is built on the idea that most small businesses fail because of traps set by themselves.  This book guides you through starting your own business from its infancy to maturation, while avoiding the potholes that may sink other small businesses.
  1. The Emigrant Edge by Brian Buffini:  This New York Times® bestseller is the rags-to-riches story of an Irish emigrant who moved to America at age 19 and would go on to become one of the nation’s real estate industry leaders.  Buffini & Company is the largest of its kind training company in North America.  Contained in this book are seven characteristics that can help you find success in business.  Brian Buffini was a keynote speaker at the EXIT Realty Corp. International 2017 Convention.
  1. The Power of Broke by Daymond John:  One of the stars of TV’s Shark Tank, John believes that an entrepreneur’s financial limitations can be a competitive advantage by forcing you to be more creative, efficient, and effective.  Contained here is the story of Daymond John and other similar entrepreneurs who leveraged their limited resources into phenomenal success.
  1. The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone:  Many people have good ideas, but what separates the average person from the truly exceptional is an action plan that brings these ideas to life.  The “10X Rule” principle can be used to help you set and achieve your goals, be more productive, and be driven by action and not fear.
  1. The Pumpkin Plan by Mike Michalowicz:  With a mentality of go-go-go, entrepreneurs are prone to prematurely burning themselves out.  Michalowicz applies principles learned from farmers growing giant pumpkins to sustained growth in business.  Learn how to identify your company’s competitive advantage, your most profitable customers, and how to best nurture them.

This is the first installment of EXIT’s “Recommended Reads”, which brings you book recommendations from EXIT’s leaders to help you be more successful.  Recommended Reads will be released five times this year, each with a different focus.  Watch for the next segment on the topic of leadership.
