EXIT Realty Corp. International recently announced a $500,000 pledge to Habitat for Humanity International. The announcement was made during the company’s Annual International Convention held at the Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island, Bahamas and brings the company’s total pledges to-date to $3.5 million.
Driven by the vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity builds and improves homes in partnership with people in need of an affordable place to call home. Stable, affordable living conditions lead to improved health, stronger childhood development, and the ability – and financial flexibility – to make forward-looking choices.
EXIT Realty’s support of Habitat began in 2004, with its first company-sponsored home build in West Palm Beach, Florida. Since then, the company has sponsored 18 additional home builds in Canada and the U.S., and has participated in a community revitalization project as well as Habitat’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project.
A portion of every transaction fee collected by EXIT Realty Corp. International is pledged to Habitat. In 2016, EXIT Realty announced its Habitat for Humanity: Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program through which these funds can potentially reach every community where an EXIT office exists. EXIT associates anywhere in the U.S. and Canada can work in conjunction with their local Habitat office to raise funds for a specific project or initiative and submit a proposal to EXIT Realty Corp. International for those funds to be matched dollar-for-dollar from EXIT Realty’s pledged pool of funds to Habitat. So far this year, funds have been matched in Arkansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, Ohio and South Dakota, with projects underway in Arizona, Michigan and New York.
“It is through the hard work of our real estate agents that our involvement with Habitat for Humanity is possible,” said EXIT Realty Corp. International CEO, Tami Bonnell. “When they close a real estate transaction, they not only help that family but help other families across the continent achieve their dream of home ownership too. We are so proud to be partner with Habitat and applaud the fine work they do.”
About Habitat for Humanity: Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in nearly 1,400 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower.
