Winston Gibbs, sales representative with EXIT Realty Lake Country in Hartwell, GA, has been a long-standing member of the North Georgia Jaycees Charitable Fund, a group that works to grow civic leaders and give back to the community. He explains how and why he created a fundraiser with the help of this charity and his EXIT community.
“We head many projects in the area and this was my opportunity to make a difference in an area that I am passionate about. In conjunction with EXIT Realty Lake Country and the Athens Jaycees, I created hosted a golf tournament, Winning Fore the Kids Charity Golf Classic, to raise funds for junior golf in our area. This was a new project that ran on its own budget, developed its own resources, and funded the growth of junior golf as well as the development of children in the local communities,” says Winston.
“Golf can teach many valuable life lessons but unfortunately there is a barrier to entry of the sport due to cost of equipment and access to facilities. My goal is to make a lasting impact on children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to get involved with the sport.”
Winston and his team at EXIT Realty Lake Country raised funds with golfer registration, hole and sign sponsors, as well as a silent auction. The proceeds will go to supporting junior golf, purchasing and providing access to junior clubs and equipment, as well as scholarships to camps, clinics, and tournaments.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Winston and his team raised $10,000, which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, for a total donation of $20,000 to the North Georgia Jaycees Charitable Fund.
