This October, EXIT Realty P.E.I., with offices in Summerside, Charlottetown and Montague was the title sponsor of the Design Challenge Gala, Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Island’s fall fundraiser. This fundraiser combined DIY with the excitement of live competition-style events. Teams of two decorated a 10’x10’ space with pre-selected packages of items provided to them by the Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Island’s ReStore. Teams had one month from the date they received items to transform them into a roomful of treasures. Gala guests voted for their favourite and the contents of the room were auctioned.
As title sponsors, EXIT Realty P.E.I. contributed $7,500 and applied to EXIT Realty Corp. International to have those funds matched through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program. A portion of every transaction fee collected by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities, including Habitat for Humanity, and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. To-date, EXIT has pledged $4 million to charity. EXIT Realty P.E.I.’s funds were matched and a total of $15,000 was donated to Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Island.
“The ReStore in Prince Edward Island has built its capacity enough to cover 100% of our operational costs, which means that 100% of proceeds goes directly to building homes for our partner families,” said John McQuaid, Board Chair, Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Island. “The total money raised at the Gala will build the foundation for three Island families and it just so happens that we currently have three partner families approved for future builds. You could say this event, with EXIT’s support, built the foundation for those partner families. And that’s no small thing. On their behalf, thank you for your generous support and helping to make this possible.”
