Pagosa Springs, CO (Grassroots Newswire) — Very seldom are young students taught how to manage money. Brittany Hathorn, Associate Broker with EXIT Realty Home & Ranch in Pagosa Springs, believes that building strong financial principles early in life makes a positive impact on youth that continues as they grow into adulthood. To further this belief, Hathorn joined forces with Dave Ramsey, one of America’s most well-known financial experts, to offer his industry-leading personal finance curriculum to students at the Sargent School District. “Valuable classes such as Foundations of Personal Finance have the potential to unlock more opportunities and visions for these younger generations,” she said.
The course covers a wide range of topics including budgeting, savings, living on less than you make, banking, investing and more. The sessions are being taught at Sargent Junior High School and Sargent High School. Sargent is a small school district located between Center and Monte Vista. The schools offer the classes as an elective to all students. The Junior High School and High School each have one teacher who instructs the classes and leads the students though the full curriculum of Foundations of Personal Finance provided by Dave Ramsey Education. Hathorn’s full sponsorship of the program means here is no cost to the child or Sargent School District.
“I chose this school district because my daughter attends Sargent Elementary and will soon be eligible to take these classes once she reaches Junior High School in two years,” said Hathorn.
