Feeding Arizona Families with EXIT Realty Sun City and the Spirit of EXIT

Laya Gavin, Broker/Owner of EXIT Realty Sun City in Arizona, and her team of real estate professionals, raised money for St. Mary’s Food Bank. St. Mary’s Food Bank is a nonprofit that provides food to hungry families in Phoenix, AZ and nine neighboring counties.

“The impact of lost jobs and wages has increased with the effects of the pandemic. Families now more than ever need the support of St. Mary’s Food Bank to keep food on the table,” said Laya. “Since COVID started, St. Mary’s has distributed nearly 70 million pounds of food to Arizonans in need. They have done over 70 non-contact drive thru mobile pantries where families can get food boxes with meat, dairy and fresh produce.”

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds.  EXIT Realty Sun City promoted their initiative via social media, person-to-person, and email. They also placed boxes in offices to collect nonperishable food items. Through their efforts, Laya and her team hoped to raise $1,000 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, however they raised $1,210 for a total donation of $2,210 to St. Mary’s Food Bank.

For every $1 donation provided, St. Mary’s is able to provide seven meals to those in need. St. Mary’s partners with the Arizona National Guard as well as 831 other agency partners and over 1,100 food distribution programs across the state. “The impact of your gift and thoughtfulness touches the young through our kid’s café program, the elderly and disabled through our home delivery program, and tribal communities through our mobile distributions program, and so many more who are looking for a hand up and not just a handout,” said Matt Cooper, Corporate Giving Officer of St. Mary’s Food Bank.
