Boone County, Iowa schools and artisans were invited to create beautiful bird houses for Home Tweet Home, a first-of-its-kind event to benefit Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity.
The event was held at the Snus Hill Winery and featured both silent and live auctions of the decorated bird houses along with samplings of award-winning wines and hors d’ouevres served by celebrity waiters (including two local mayors, college basketball coaches and a state representative).
EXIT Realty Lora & Company was among Home Tweet Home’s Gold Hammer Sponsors and applied to EXIT Realty Corp. International’s matching funds program. EXIT Realty Lora & Company raised $6496.00 which was matched with $6496.00 from EXIT Realty Corp. International for a total donation to Habitat of $12,992.00.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is pledged to its non-profit organization of choice, and to-date $3.5 million dollars has been pledged to Habitat for Humanity. Through the EXIT & Habitat: Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT Realty’s involvement with Habitat for Humanity can potentially reach every community where an EXIT office exists. EXIT Associates anywhere in North America can work in conjunction with their local Habitat for Humanity office to raise funds for a specific project or initiative and submit a proposal to EXIT Realty Corp. International for those funds to be matched dollar-for-dollar from EXIT Realty’s pledged pool of funds to Habitat for Humanity International.
“Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity will use the proceeds from the Home Tweet Home fundraising event to build a home in Madrid, Iowa, in partnership with the Mark and Kim Mohr family. In addition, the local Habitat affiliate was able to inform the public in general, and event guests in particular, of the need for improved low-income housing stocks and the unmatched value Habitat volunteers provide in meeting these needs,” said Erich Kretzinger, Executive Director, Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity.
