“I am a colon cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in February 1997 at the age of 35. February 2022 was 25 years since that initial diagnosis and surgery. I want to bring awareness to the community that this disease is not just something that affects older people. I want to be a witness and encourage others to be vigilant about screening and being aware of signs, symptoms, and keeping up with their health,” said Judy Jackson, sales representative with EXIT Landmark Realty of White Plains, MD.
Judy raised money for Colorectal Cancer Alliance by participating in the 2022 DC ScopeItOut 5K. The Colorectal Cancer Alliance focuses on three pillars of programs: Screen, Care, and Cure. The fundraising donations will be used to deliver support to patients, families, caregivers, and survivors.
Judy posted on social media to shed light on the fact that the disease impacts all ages and that there is hope. “My testimony can be used as a tool to promote the need for colonoscopies, endoscopies, and testing for early detection, prevention, and treatment,” she said. Judy also walked in memory of her father who passed from the disease.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Judy raised $2,002.43 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match for a total donation of $4,004.86 to Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
