The Alachua County Veteran’s Memorial Project Committee is a not-for-profit corporation whose sole purpose is to maintain veteran memorials throughout Alachua County, Florida.
“A common perception is that the county builds and maintains our veteran memorials, which is not true,” said Terry Martin-Back, Associate Broker with EXIT Realty Producers in Gainesville, Florida. “Veteran memorials are funded by public and corporate donations and maintained by volunteers.”
Martin-Back, a combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm and an avid bike rider, enlisted the help of two like-minded friends to ride 85 miles from Gainesville to Crescent Beach soliciting donations from the public in support of the Alachua County Veteran’s Memorial Project Committee. A portion of every transaction fee collected by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. Martin-Back hoped to raise $2,000, which EXIT Realty Corp. International was proud to match, and he bested that figure by a fiver for a total donation to the Alachua County Veteran’s Memorial Project Committee of $4,005.
“Thank you for generosity in supporting this charity so we can maintain and preserve the history of our veterans and their activities for years to come,” he concluded.
