Serving Up A Cure, a 3-day tennis tournament benefiting cancer-related charities, is the brainchild of Bill Sharp, owner of EXIT 1 Stop Realty in Jacksonville, Florida and two of his industry-related friends. The event, held earlier this year, drew 250 tennis players including pros and beginners alike.
A portion of every transaction fee collected by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. This year’s Serving Up A Cure tournament benefited three charities; the Ellie Kavalieros DIPG Research Fund which provides critical support for innovative research for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), Gabriel House of Care, an extended-stay hospitality house for cancer and organ transplant patients receiving medical care away from home, and Community Hospice & Palliative Care which helps approximately 1,500 patients a day to live better with advanced illness. A request was made to the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching program to match $5,000 of the anticipated funds raised. The tournament smashed expectations by raising $52,050.00 and along with EXIT’s matched portion, the donation to the organization totaled $57,050.00.
