By Sandra Hussey, Sales Representative and Team Leader of Team Fussy Hussey with EXIT Realty Group, Brokerage in Trenton, ON

Grace Inn Shelter is a vital resource for individuals facing homelessness in the Belleville community. The shelter offers 21 beds with a unique allocation of 5 beds for female-identifying individuals and 16 beds for male-identifying individuals. This thoughtful design ensures that all guests receive tailored care and support, acknowledging the diverse needs within the homeless population.

EXIT Realty Group, Brokerage places a strong emphasis on caring for its agents and clients. Grace Inn Shelter, with its focus on providing basic needs and a supportive community, embodies the spirit of caring and compassion. By supporting Grace Inn Shelter, EXIT extends its commitment to caring beyond the real estate realm, making a tangible impact on the lives of those in need.

Our team completed a successful fundraising effort at the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) 2024 event, held at Grace’s Inn in Belleville on February 24th, 2024.We are pleased to report that our team’s dedication and hard work resulted in us being the 2nd highest fundraising team at the event, largely due to our participation in the Spirit of EXIT initiative. The event itself was a great success, and we are proud to share that we contributed significantly to the event’s goal of raising $75,000. While they did not meet the full goal, our collective efforts raised an impressive $67,401 this year.

This fundraising effort will have a significant impact on our community, especially considering Belleville’s recent declaration of a local state of emergency following a surge in overdoses that has taxed emergency responders. We are glad that we were able to play a part in supporting our community during this challenging time.

Our approach to fundraising involved reaching out to our client group, friends, and family through various channels, including social media and word of mouth. Team Fussy Hussey also stepped up and sponsored all the volunteers by providing Team Fussy Hussey/CNOY t-shirts. Additionally, our team went above and beyond by sponsoring the kid zone, where we provided activities such as face painting, coloring sheets, and snowflake crafts.

The turnout for these activities was fantastic, and we are proud of our team’s contribution to making the event enjoyable for all attendees. Not only did our team members volunteer for the kids’ tent, but they also participated in the 5KM walk through Belleville, proudly wearing their Team Fussy Hussey t-shirts and toques, demonstrating the spirit of EXIT.

We were pleased that the event received coverage from InQuinte News, and additionally, we were mentioned on the radio station 95.5 the following day, further highlighting the success of our fundraising effort. Once again, we want to express our gratitude to each member of our team for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to making a positive impact in our community. Thank you for your continued support.
