The Spirit of EXIT Matches Commission Donated to Scholarship Fund in Virginia

When their son, Hank Holloway, died suddenly at age 31, Steve and Becky Holloway along with Hank’s employer, established the Hank Holloway Virginia Green Lawn Care Scholarship Fund in his honor to support post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying current employees and their children.  The fund is administered by The Community Foundation, Inc. in Richmond, Virginia.

Thomas Caudill, an Associate Broker with EXIT East Carolina Realty was with EXIT First Realty in Virginia when his friends lost their son and asked him to list Hank’s house for sale.    “I got a full-price offer in two days,” said Thomas.  “I really wanted to do something special for Steve and Becky and I knew they were going to set up a scholarship in Hank’s name, so I decided to make a donation of a third of my commission from the sale of Hank’s house.”

A portion of every transaction fee collected by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund.  Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds.  Thomas applied to have his donation of $2,650 matched by EXIT’s Head Office for a total donation of $5,300 to the Hank Holloway Virginia Green Lawn Care Scholarship Fund.

The fund’s documentation describes Hank as a lover of nature, the great outdoors and the wonders of the earth. “He loved to travel to be with his friends.  He loved and respected his devoted parents and family and it is with Hank’s spirit that this scholarship has been established.”
