EXIT Capstone Realty Supports Local Community with Help from the Spirit of EXIT

By Julie Meggs, Broker/Owner of EXIT Capstone Realty in Tuscaloosa, AL

EXIT Capstone Realty participated in a fundraising event benefitting the nonprofit organization, Help Holt Heal, on Sunday, April 16th.

Help Holt Heal, Inc. was started by Ray Allen, known to many locally for his traffic reports as “Cap’n” Ray, a year ago. The organization is laser focused on the improvement of living conditions and the restoration of the sense of community in the Holt Area.

“We’re going in and restoring those houses,” Allen said, “We’re putting people and families in those houses. We’ll put children back in those schools, in our churches, and working in our community to revitalize a community, one home at a time.”

The nonprofit is also supporting youth within the community by working to eradicate drug culture and providing sports alternatives.

“Holt is my alma mater, and I am very close to members of this community. Holt has been through so much over the years between the loss of industry to the devastation of the F4 tornado that plowed through in April 2011. I believe Help Holt Heal is a courageous and much needed initiative that will help bring Holt back to its former glory as one of the most family friendly and central areas in the larger Tuscaloosa community,” says Stacia Koon, sales representative with EXIT Capstone Realty.

The fundraiser, also known as the H3 Hootenanny, included a silent auction with donated items procured by EXIT Capstone Realty agents from local business partners, live bands, food, axe throwing, as well as a special appearance from Big Al. Proceeds from the event will go towards home renovations, cleanups, and youth involvement programs.

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. EXIT Capstone Realty hoped to raise $4,000, which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, however they exceeded that goal and raised $4,598 for a total donation of $8,598 to Help Holt Heal, Inc.

We appreciate all of the support we received from our local business partners, and friends for our “H3 Hootenanny” as we sought to support the long-neglected Holt area. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to one of our most needy communities.
