EXIT Realty Low Country Group Raises Funds to Help Homeless Veterans

Corwyn Melette, Broker/Owner of EXIT Realty Low Country Group in Charleston, SC, decided to raise money to assist Senior Housing & Resource Management in his area to help with housing for homeless veterans. The fundraising was done online during July to be able to interact with agents and the community via phone and social media while remaining socially distant enough to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When asked why he chose to help this organization, Corwyn responded, “The “Why”? That is easy. Homelessness in our country is a problem. For our veterans it is a disgrace. Our company, locally, has been an advocate and fighter on the front line to help get veterans off the streets. Our goal is to get and keep them in adequate, decent housing. To allow our veterans to sleep on park benches after having made such sacrifice to serve us all, is disappointing to me. I have family who have served, a child who has served, friends and clients who have served. It would dishonor them to not be an advocate to assist others like them. While I can understand that seems a bit overboard, it is something that I am a firm believer in.”

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. Corwyn was hoping to raise $5,000 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, however he exceeded his expectations and raised $5,126 for a total donation of $10,126 to Senior Housing & Resource Management. “This Spirit of EXIT gift will assist in getting veterans into a facility to begin the steps of rebuilding their lives, help them to gain meaningful employment and be contributors to the community which restores their dignity. I’m passionate about helping others,” said Corwyn.

“Thanks to generous donors like you, Senior Housing & Resource Management will be able to make a difference by providing transitional housing to up to 300 veterans each year,” said Will Matheson, Vice Chairman of Senior Housing & Resource Management.
