“I am extremely passionate about our seniors and so excited to be able to help in any way. We just don’t have facilities for seniors to live in nor socialize, which I truly believe is so important, ” says Shelley Low, Co-Broker/Owner of EXIT Realty Home & Ranch in Durango, CO about why she used GoFundMe to raise money for Archuleta Seniors, Inc.
The Pagosa Springs Senior Center has unfortunately outgrown their current space and found that the rent would be raised so they are on a mission to either buy or build a new location. To obtain a grant for a new senior center the charity had to prove that they have community support by raising a percentage of the total grant amount before they could submit their application. Shelley and her team started a GoFundMe fundraiser and advertised in the local paper asking for donations. EXIT Realty Home & Ranch will also work with the Senior Center Board to help them find their new location.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Shelley and her team hoped to raise $5,000 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, however they greatly exceeded their goal and raised $12,405 for a total donation of $17,405 to Archuleta Seniors, Inc.

We are looking forward to having our own updated place with increased space for social, educational, and informational activities that will benefit our community. We are also hoping the expanded space of a new Senior Center will allow us to collaborate with other organizations to benefit not only our senior citizens, but will provide our seniors and staff, the opportunity to work with many other needy and worthy community organizations,” said Crystal Gillich, Treasurer of Archuleta Seniors, Inc.
