Souls Harbour Rescue Mission Gets Help with BBQ Fundraiser and Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program

“Our BBQ fundraiser for Souls Harbour Rescue Mission in Bridgewater on Canada Day was a great success! We offered burgers, hotdogs and strawberry shortcakes, which was definitely a favourite among our customers. We were swamped for six hours and we were able to raise more than our original goal,” tells Danny Ross, sales representative with EXIT Realty Inter Lake in Bridgewater, NS.

Many people noticed that they were raising money for a good cause and that EXIT Realty Corp. International was matching up to $2000, so they had several folks come and give additional donations, some in excess of $100. After the BBQ, they opened up an online donation platform through Canada Helps for even more donations.

“I currently volunteer at this charity serving hot meals and providing essential donations to anyone in need. I see firsthand the impact they make to the 60-90 people they serve every day,” Danny explains as to why he chose to apply to  the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program for this organization.

The money raised will be used to buy a commercial dishwasher as currently all dishes are washed by hand. The dishwasher will be faster, more hygienic, and will allow more time to cook and address the needs of the people they serve.

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Danny hoped to raise $2,000, which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, however he exceeded that goal and raised $2420.35 for a total donation of $4,420.35 to Souls Harbour Rescue Mission.

“Thank you for your special gift! Your donation is having a huge impact in the lives of so many people,” says Michelle Porter, CEO, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission.
