“Members of both our church and community have family that are afflicted by this disease. Several family members have been affected and we would like our efforts to support research opportunities that help patients deal with the effects of sickle cell disease,” tells Joe Piernas, Broker/Owner of EXIT Extra Mile Realty in Long Beach, MS, why he chose to host a golf tournament to raise money for Mississippi Sickle Cell Foundation.
Joe and his team held the tournament on May 30th at the Bridges Golf Course in Bay St. Louis, MS. Money was raised through title and tee sign sponsorships prior to the event as well as a 50/50 raffle during.
All funds raised go back into the community by providing scholarships, free annual camps and retreats, educational seminars, research and aid for families dealing directly with the disease. They were able to raise $4,000 through their many efforts and EXIT Realty Corp. International proudly donated an additional $2,000 for a total donation of $6,000 to Mississippi Sickle Cell Foundation.

Because of this contribution, the Mississippi Sickle Cell Foundation can continue its mission to enhance the quality of life for individuals living with sickle cell disease through the support of research, public activities and awareness, and patient and family education,” said Jeanne J. Tate, Chairwoman, Mississippi Sickle Cell Foundation.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds.
