The brokers and agents of EXIT Realty Virginia partnered with Roc Solid Foundation to build a children’s outdoor playset in Richmond, Virginia for a local child fighting cancer. Roc Solid explained when children are diagnosed with cancer, their ability to play is sometimes exchanged for doctor appointments and treatment. Roc Solid’s Play It Forward Program partners with volunteers, donors, and the community to build backyard playsets to provide children a safe place to play and create positive memories with their families.
Hailey Russell, an agent with EXIT Realty Central in Norfolk, introduced the foundation to the regional owners of EXIT Realty Virginia, myself, Randy Barrows and Koy Banks. Hailey spearheaded the project. After hearing about the difference Roc Solid Foundation was making with families of children fighting cancer, we really wanted to be active participants and build a playset.
EXIT Realty Virginia was matched with an 8-year-old boy battling cancer and his family in the Richmond, Virginia area. Several volunteers from multiple EXIT Realty brokerages throughout the Virginia region, from Northern Virginia all the way down to Virginia Beach, came together to build a playset for this child and his family. The volunteers got to witness the excitement of the child and his siblings as they got to see their playhouse being built in their backyard. “Witnessing the joy, excitement and the smile from this brave little boy battling cancer seeing his playset for the first time just really touched our hearts,” said Randy.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Charitable Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Bernadette and her team of professionals raised $5,049.16, which EXIT’s head office was proud to match, for a total donation of $10,098.32 to Roc Solid Foundation.
“Your generosity allows us to continue our mission to build hope for families facing pediatric cancer. These funds have provided Ready Bags for many families during one of the worst days of their lives and provided play for a child fighting cancer through a playset in their own backyard,” said Kelly Capps Durick, Executive Assistant, Roc Solid Foundation.
