Knock, Knock, Give a Sock (KKGS) is an organization that collects the most needed but least donated article of clothing for those experiencing homelessness: socks. They work in conjunction with local charities to provide grassroots community assistance.
Joann Cilliers, Sales Representative, and the team at EXIT Realty Metro in Minneapolis, MN, partnered with KKGS to collect and donate socks for Sharing and Caring Hands, an organization founded “as a safety-net to help those who could not obtain help from the welfare system.” The EXIT team was encouraged to promote the initiative on social media and door knock to collect socks. The brokerage donated $1 for every pair of socks collected and monetary donations from the community were also encouraged.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. The team at EXIT Realty Metro raised $378 which EXIT Realty Corp. International was proud to match for a total donation to Sharing and Caring Hands through KKGS of $756 along with 358 pairs of men’s, women’s and children’s socks.
