Reflection: A Year-End Message from EXIT Realty’s COO, Erika Gileo

This is the time of year for reflection.  As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season surrounds us, remember to the take time to reflect on this past year and to make decisions about how you want this coming year to play out.  Remember, as Deepak Chopra said, “When you make a choice, you change the future.”

This year I have a lot to reflect on as I close the year on 20 years with this amazing company.  We have witnessed many changes over those years both within our company and also within our industry but some things have stayed constant.   Our Founder and Chairman, Steve Morris, has stayed consistent in his focus on the people with whom he surrounds himself while at the same time never wavering in his commitment towards the achievement of our goals.  Our C.E.O., Tami Bonnell, is a tireless leader who represents us with grace and expertise wherever she speaks.  We have always made decisions based on doing the right thing; the bottom line has never been the first consideration.  We have never lost the ability to pivot and adjust to make decisions quickly.

This ability is very evident in the recent changes we have made to some of our top positions. These changes ensure that we have the right people in the exact positions suited to their expertise.  As Director of Leadership, Bob McKinnon will be teaching and mentoring leaders across the corporation.  As Direction of Brokerage Development, Janice Petteway will be passing down her wisdom as a top broker to our franchisees.  Joyce Paron will continue to oversee the Canadian Division and Craig Witt will now oversee the U.S. Division.  These individuals are all very well-respected and they will now have the ability to impact more people on their path to success.

As Chief Operating Officer my focus, in addition to operating an efficient corporate office, is to ensure that we are always providing the utmost value to our regional owners, franchisees and agents.  Our head office employees are people who genuinely love and care for each other, their jobs and our associates and that shows in every aspect of their performance.  I have watched most of them grow into their current positions over the years and I am blessed to have the privilege of working with such a wonderful group of talented and dedicated professionals.

As you finalize your business plans and wind down for a little quiet time with your families, I hope you will take the time to reflect on the people with whom you surround yourself on a day-to-day basis.  Do they fulfill you?  Do they applaud your successes?  Do they care about you as a person or just the bottom line that you bring to their company?  Do they talk about positive corporate culture or do they live it?

At EXIT Realty we will continue to strive to bring you the absolute best service and value possible.  From our home to yours we wish you the happiest of holidays and the wish that 2017 brings you good health and your best year ever.
