Pam Doak Makes Wishes Come True as Make a Wish Fairy Godmother with Help from The Spirit of EXIT

By Pam Doak, Sales Representative with EXIT Realty Advantage in Fredericton, NB

When I was approached by Kristin McCurdy, Provincial Director at Make-A-Wish Canada, NB to be a Fairy Godmother to raise funds to grant wishes to children between the ages of 3-17 who are diagnosed with a life threating illness, how could I say no? When a child is sick, it effects the entire family. It’s been proven when a child can smile and do normal and fun things with their family it creates a healing process for all involved.

I was so excited to be part of the Fairy Godmother program and feel honored to do my part to make wishes come true. The total amount raised through this campaign was over $250,000. The love, dedication, and spirit shown by my fellow Fairy Godmothers has been so overwhelming. The hardest thing I have ever witnessed was watching my own child fight illness. Our children are so much stronger than we know, they are warriors, and to be given the opportunity to give a child joy and hope truly has been a gift in itself. I feel blessed to have been part of this journey.

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pool of funds. Pam raised $10,000 which EXIT’s head office was proud to match for a total donation of $20,000 to Make-A-Wish Canada.

“Make-A-Wish, New Brunswick Chapter launched an exciting initiative at the stroke of midnight this New Year. Across New Brunswick empowering individuals, like Pamela Doak of EXIT Realty, accepted the challenge to become a real-life Fairy Godmother for children in need of a miracle in our province. The past few years have been filled with uncertainties and challenges that resulted in delays in granting many wishes and has dealt an additional negative impact for Make-A-Wish with a revenue shortfall of 30% due to the cancellation of many fundraising activities. Our Fairy Godmothers strive to mitigate the impact of the pandemic by raising funds that can deliver wishes today and help us manage the backlog as life returns to normal. With your matching gift we will have raised over $250,000 to help create the MAGIC of wishes for New Brunswick children. Thank you!” said Kristin.
