“Your efforts, combined with those of additional teams, have provided the funding needed to cover the cost of a home for one of the four families who will soon call Magnolia Place home. Typical for our families, three of them are single moms,” said Penny Seater, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Seminole Country & Greater Apopka.
Seater described the circumstances of one of the women who will soon own her own Habitat for Humanity home. “A victim of domestic violence, Dellanira moved from New York to protect her children, leaving everything behind, including family and friends. Homeless, they stayed in a safe house until she was able to get a job and able to find a place to live. That first apartment was not the new beginning she hoped for; it was rampant with crime and drugs. Dellanira was initially denied acceptance into the Habitat program due to insufficient income. Armed with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, she was able to find another job and was accepted into the program and has worked hard to complete her sweat equity. Her story is not an unusual one but demonstrates the determination and perseverance of families to make a better life for their children.”
The $1,826 raised by EXIT Real Estate Results was matched by EXIT Realty’s pledged pool of funds to Habitat for Humanity for a total donation of $3,652.
“Your support helps to empower these families with the strength, stability and self-reliance they will gain through safe, affordable shelter,” said Seater.
