Boo Reitz, sales representative with EXIT Realty Elite in Frisco, TX was born with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and fights the battle every day to beat the odds.
Cystic fibrosis is a rare, genetic, life-shortening disease that affects every organ in the body and makes breathing difficult. Some people with the disease say it’s like breathing through a narrow straw. In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria, leading to life-threatening lung infections. Sixty-five years ago, most children did not live long enough to attend elementary school, but thanks to Foundation-based research and care, people with CF are now living into their 40s.
Dallas’ Finest is a prestigious, select group of men and women the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation honors each year. This group consists of young working professionals, ages 21-41, who exemplify strong leadership qualities, active community involvement and a proven track record of success in their chosen careers.
In the past 6 years, they have honored over 75 young professionals and last year were able to raise over $100,000 to help find a cure for CF. Dallas’ Finest honorees receive recognition as exemplary leaders from one of the world’s leading nonprofits. In addition to the recognition, the honorees have the opportunity to network with likeminded individuals, gain media coverage and help save lives of those living with CF.
This year, Boo was awarded as an Honoree with the 2020 Dallas Finest event held by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Each of the honorees solicited donations for the Cystic Fibrosis chapter through personal contact, social media and mail campaigns. A secure site for donations was provided by the Cystic Fibrosis chapter and cumulative donation reporting was shown on the site throughout the event.
Boo publicized the event on his Facebook, Instagram and other social media sites. Additionally, he contacted vendors he works with professionally including lenders, title companies, inspectors, and builders. Due to COVID-19 the most effective way of fundraising was through social media and using his current network of people in both his business and personal life. Boo’s fellow agents in the EXIT Realty Elite office and other brokerage offices also shared the event through their respective websites, Facebook and other social media pages.
A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is applied to its charitable fund. Through the Spirit of EXIT Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program, EXIT offices and associates can raise money for local, approved, registered charities and apply to EXIT’s head office to have those funds matched from the company’s pledged pool of funds. Boo hoped to raise $10,000 which EXIT’s head office proudly agreed to match but he exceeded his expectations and raised $10,435 for a total donation of $20,435 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Impressive! Congrats and best wishes as you continue the fight!
