They say it isn’t what happens to him that marks the measure of man, but rather how he reacts to what happens. At the 2015 EXIT Realty Convention, Cliff Hageman, Franchisee and Sales Representative with EXIT Realty Plus in Gaithersburg Maryland will share his story of triumph over tragedy.
Cliff, a salesman since childhood, opened EXIT Realty Plus with his brother Jason in 2005. One fateful 2014 late-summer morning, Cliff was riding his motorcycle home from the office when he was hit by a distracted driver. He suffered catastrophic injuries to his left leg including the loss of his calf muscle, 73% of the nerves in his foot and an artery that burst twice, almost costing him his life. This successful real estate salesperson and franchisee, a self-proclaimed, “Mr. Special”, was now faced with the devastating decision to endure 60 surgeries over the next 5 years in an attempt to save his leg or to amputate. “I told them to amputate, get me out of here and let me get back to my life,” he said.
Cliff’s life has taken an unexpected trajectory filled with physical, emotional and spiritual challenges. He has shared his highs and lows with his EXIT Family every step of the way and has inspired countless people with his phenomenally positive outlook.
