Surrender your Citizenship in the Land of Technology

Focus on Good Health - UnplugIt’s bad enough that we’ll interrupt what we’re doing with those we love to do something that can leave us more stressed out.  People are opting for screen time over the face-to-face company of friends and family.  When would NOW be the right time to EXIT the land of technology for a single day?  What would it take to surrender your smart phone, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn citizenship and simply UNPLUG for 24 hours?  The mere thought might send chills up and down your spine, but not for the reasons you may think!  Here are 5 benefits to displaying your temporary visa for a day and surrendering your citizenship in the land of technology!

1.  Reconnect with your PURPOSE.  Having a clearly defined purpose is the most powerful force in the world.  The two best days of your life are the day you are born and the day you learn why!

2.  Reclaim the gift of your TIME.  Three out of every five people actually admit spending more time on their computers and smart phones than with their significant others.  When it comes to your time, think very carefully about where yours is going!

3.  Rediscover the power of FOCUS.  Where attention goes, energy flows.  Where attention stops, energy flops.  The heightened sense of awareness and increased energy will allow you to perform at your very best, personally and professionally.

4.  Re-ignite your PASSION.  Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion.  You must light yourself on fire!  Computers and phones can’t handle the high heat.

5.  Re-establish your CONNECTION with your spiritual self.  Meditation increases the brain’s gray matter density which decreases pain, increases immune function and improves the body’s ability to adapt to chemical, physical and emotional stress.  Sometimes there is no reason to medicate when you can meditate!

Surrendering your citizenship in the land of technology need not be permanent.  Your temporary visa grants you the opportunity to UNPLUG, if only for a short period of time.  Upon your return, your conversations with Siri will probably take on a whole new dimension.  After all, absence always makes the heart grow fonder!
