Dr. Gregg Baron’s D.R.E.A.M. Smoothie

Focus on Good Health - Smoothie 1. Begin with a base of alkaline water, unsweetened Silk Almond Milk, Hemp Bliss Hemp Milk or Rice Dream Rice Milk.  Make sure that whichever company you choose, it does not include sugar or the ingredient “carrageenan”.

2. Add frozen wild blueberries or frozen berries of your choice (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries).  Your frozen berries should be organic if possible.

3. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not use all of the add-ins at the same time. Mix ‘n match approximately five items until you find the perfect combination (remember, frozen fruit blends much better than room temperature fruit.  It also keeps your smoothie very cold and flat out makes it taste better. Flash-frozen fruit loses very little nutrition).

 The Add-Ins

  • Pea, rice, egg white, hemp or grass-fed whey protein.  I recommend Vega, Sun Warrior or Q5 Grass-Fed Whey Protein
  • Goji berries (one of the most nutrient-dense foods on earth, considered by many to be the best anti-aging food, period)
  • Raw nut butter (mono-unsaturated fat, protein and fiber)
  • Coconut oil or coconut butter (MCT’s – Medium Chain Triglycerides.  The body doesn’t store them as fat, but burns them as energy and they are  great for skin.  They are anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-microbial due to the presence of lauric, capric and caprylic acid, components of mommy’s breast milk; if they can build a baby, they can protect you from illness)
  • Hemp seeds (omega fatty acids, protein and fiber).  Do not confuse with the substance that is placed in long tubes and smoked while listening to Pink Floyd.  Hemp seeds are the world’s best source of globulins which activate and fire-up the immune system like nobody’s business
  • Bee pollen (vitamins, minerals, live enzymes and amazing amino-acid profile)
  • Aloe vera juice (AMP’s – aloe mucilaginous polysaccharides which are tremendous for repairing the lining of the small and large intestine.  They are great for the skin too and for cuts and bruises on the kiddies)
  • Camu camu (vitamin C king – nothing else comes close – 30x the vitamin C of oranges)
  • Maca (adaptogen that balances out the endocrine system and also has plant sterols which decrease cholesterol)
  • Raw manuka honey (A sweetener with vitamins, minerals and live enzymes; great for allergies)
  • Raw cacao (comes either as nibs or powder).  Super-anti-oxidant capability (highest food in the world on the ORAC scale which measures the ability of a food to combat free-radicals (bad guys).  It gives the smoothie a deep, dark chocolate taste.  Remember, a little cacao goes a long way
  • Raw nuts (almonds, cashews, pecans, walnuts).  Just a small handful. Roasted nuts are heated therefore beneficial fatty acids are rancid
  • A handful of organic spinach or kale (loaded with vitamins, minerals and enzymes; too many to list)
  • Turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper and olive oil (shuts down inflammation and lowers blood pressure)

A Word of Advice

  • Don’t worry about measuring everything out.
  • A spoonful of nut butter, coconut oil or coconut butter is perfect.
  • A handful of raw nuts, goji berries and raw cacao is perfect. A sprinkle of hemp seeds and bee pollen is perfect.
  • An ounce of pure aloe vera juice is good.
  • Test your smoothie with 2 cups of your base. I prefer alkaline water; however non-dairy milks will make your smoothie thicker.
  • Remember, berries should be your main fruit choice!
  • A teaspoonful of camu camu or maca is fabulous. A little bit  goes a loooonnnggggg way!
  • A sprinkle of turmeric, black pepper and olive oil is the most potent anti-inflammatory on earth. Add 1 teaspoon of olive oil to maximize the bio-availability of the curcumin in the turmeric and the piperine in the black pepper.

 Drink up and age backwards!
